Picture of a ship's bell In 1997 I wanted to do something different for my holidays. So when I saw an advertisement for tall ship sailing in a Sunday newspaper I thought, "this might be it!"

A few months later I boarded the STS Malcolm Miller of the Sail Training Association (STA) to sail from Greenock/Scotland to the Faroe Islands.

In the following two weeks we sailed 365 nautical miles, motor sailed 527 nautical miles and motored 297 nautical miles. We saw dolphins following our ship, saw the sun rise over the ocean, climbed up the mast to man the yards and visited the bird cliffs on the Faroe Islands.

To see my pictures from this voyage ring the ship's bell on the left (or use the emergency entrance)
