View towards Palos Verdes When the opportunity came up to share a flat approx 100 metres from the beach I didn't have to think about it, I took it immediately. "153 Paseo de la Concha" in Redondo Beach was going to be my home for the next 7 months. We could see the ocean from the balcony at the side of the flat and it took three minutes to walk to the beach. What more could you want?
To the left the beach looking south, towards Palos Verdes. Turning the other way the cycle path went all the way to Santa Monica, passing Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach on the way.
Three views of Manhattan BeachTo the left three pictures from Manhattan Beach. First looking south with Palos Verdes in the distance. Again you can see the cycle path from Redondo Beach in the south to Santa Monica in the north.
In the middle several beach volleyball fields and finally Manhattan Beach Pier. You can't see it on this picture, but usually there were always a few surfers showing off close to the pier.
On the right some beach impressions: The first is me playing beach volleyball, something you have to do when you live there. Second a lifeguard station, you will find these dotted along the beaches. Occasionally you also see the lifeguards in action, either in an emergency or in one of the many competitions.

Below left an impression of a calm evening in Hermosa Beach. Below right a group picture of the trainees and friends, a quite international bunch: German, Swedish, Italian, Swiss, English and American to name a few nationalities.
