| The Isle of Purbeck is not really an island, but the area between Poole Harbour and the English Channel. You can either reach it by ferry from Poole (Sandbanks to Studland) or by road via Wareham. Wareham is also a good base for a weekend, as it allows you to drive everywhere on Purbeck fairly quickly (at least that's what I found). Corfe Castle is shown on the map, it's on the south-east of Purbeck. Durlston Country Park is near Swanage, just south of Swanage. Finally Durdle Door is near West Lulworth: Lulworth Cove can be identified on the map (the circular bay next to the L of Lulworth), Durdle Door is just west of it. |
