Picture of the entrance to a farm distillery, Kilchoman distillery on the Isle of Islay My last full day on Islay turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. In the morning I had a wonderful run on the beach of Machir Bay. I saw a few riders galloping along the beach, an impressive view.

In the afternoon I left for some distillery visits followed by a bit of hillwalking. My first destination was Kilchoman Distillery, Islay's new farm distillery. With the excellent weather I was hoping for some good pictures and panoramas. I wasn't disappointed, the views were brilliant:

For a better view of the distillery you might want to try the Quicktime VR panorama of Kilchoman Distillery on the west coast of Islay, a much larger version of the preview below:

Picture of the outside of a farm distillery Next I went out to the approach again to see if I could get a good picture of the distillery with some of the farm buildings. Looking at it from the outside you can really see how the distillery is intergrated into the farm.

I also went into the still house. The last time I had seen it they were still putting the finishing touches to it. Now it was complete and in full operation for almost two years. The bright sun shining in through the window above the entrance provided enough light to take some nice pictures for a panorama of the view.

For a much better impression you might want to try the Quicktime VR panorama of the still/mash house of Kilchoman distillery, a much larger version of the preview below:

Picture of 2 spirit vats at Bruichladdich distillery From Kilchoman I drove over to its nearest neighbour, Bruichladdich Distillery. Having already visited Bruichladdich the previous week this visit was only going to be a short one. I wanted to find out when the Islay Malt Pillage was going to pass, which was scheduled for the Saturday. It turned out that because of a bad weather forecast it had been pulled in and they had already passed Bruichladdich. They were on their way to the southern distilleries already, where I could catch up with them in the evening.

But before that I took the pictures for a panorama of the distillery (sorry, no Quicktime version of this one) and then left for some last hillwalking...
