The Islay Walking Week 2008 took place 12-18 Apr 2008. It was the sixth week after 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and most recently 2007. Would this year be another record year for completed walks?

We had excellent walks with almost perfect weather, only one walk was completed under clouds and a very cold wind. We enjoyed great views over Islay. While most of the walkers were from the UK there were also visitors from Canada (even though she was born on Islay), Austria (well, kind of, similar to me she has lived in the UK for a very long time) and the Netherlands. We listened to music and had the odd drink. We walked many many miles on three islands, Islay, Jura and Colonsay. And yes, we broke last years record of 362 completed walks: 449 walks were completed in 2008, James' walk on Colonsay drawing 53 people alone.
